At age 15 I have devoted my training and time to jumping high and becoming a better high jumper. I have many dreams that I plan on accomplishing and with hard work they will all come true. I've been through a lot and I am sure there is more to come, but I know that i'll get through it. Project Mason isn't just a blog...it's my journey.

Christmas!

Hey guys, what's up? So right now I'm writing this post on my new Google tablet! I love it so much, it really is a great piece of technology. If you're still debating whether or not to get one, here is you're answer...get one! Along with the tablet I got: shirts, pants, bicycle computer, bicycle pedals, foam roller, road side medical kit, bicycle seat post bag, USA tack and field license plate and lanyard, and I also got my letter man's jacket! I am so great full that I have got all this for Christmas. This was a great holiday and I am so glad I got to spend it with my family. My family members get together every 25th of December after our families open presents at my grandma's house and hang out. You know, its truly is the little things in life that count, like being with my family at my grandma's house. That was a good memory to have but I also have a bad memory this year too. My great-grandma passed away a couple of days before Christmas and it was really hard for the family. It was tough for all of us but we all managed to come together and have a great family Christmas. We will all miss her and will never forget this Christmas. As far as my training goes my groin is still f*ucked up. Luckily I will be better and probably back to training before 2013! I've got a meet coming up on the 19th of Jan. If I remembered correctly. So hopefully that all goes good. I need to see my trainer before the meet though so I can get my high jump steps down. Of I can't see her then there is no need to go to the meet and fail.

GOT A CAR! and a double groin strain...

Hey guys, what's up? Just last weekend me and my dad went to go look at a 2 door Ford Explorer (white and has 4-wheel drive). When we first got there we saw a 2 door Ford Explorer and so we pulled up to it. A couple minutes go by, and we call the guy and are like "where are you at?" and he says "I'll be there in a minute". So knowing that the guy was coming, we started to look at the Explorer next to us. My dad start to get his flash light and started checking the engine and all this...then all of a sudden...two girls come out from around the corner and are like "hey what are you doing to my car!". My dad is like "we're here to look at a car from craigslist". and the girls didn't believe him and ended up my dad had to show him his badge (he is a police man). My dad then says "we were here looking at a 2 door ford explorer that is white, there aren't many 2 door ford explorers out there anyways". right when he said that the girl said "you mean just like the one pulling in" and sure enough a white ford explorer pulls in, just like the other one! It was so funny, I mean what are the possibilities of that? Anyways, we ended up buying the explorer and I love it! It's just perfect for me, it even has a sunroof! The only problem is the radio has a short in it, but we can fix that. Other than this news, I still have my double groin strain. It's really annoying, it's been about 3 weeks now w/o Jump Manual. It sucks, but i'm not risking coming back to early. I hope to be back after Christmas. I really have no update on my vertical because I've been to scared to jump thinking I might aggravate a groin. Honestly, my guess is it is about the same or a little better. I do plan on gaining a lot more even though I have been set back. I don't let stuff like this bother me, gotta have "tunnel vision". Focus just on your goal and don't let distractions get to you.

WHAT HAPPENED TO PROJECT MASON!?

Hey guys, what's up? I know...I know...I haven't posted in forever! Almost forgot about Project Mason, but then I got on blogger and found it again. Once I got on here, I started thinking: what is Project Mason to me?  The answer to that took me some time to think about, because I thought isn't this just another social media device? Well...yes, yes it is. But Project Mason isn't just a "blog" for me, it's more of a collection of my pain that translates to pleasure. This blog shows my pain and how it always gives me pleasure in the end, this isn't just a blog...it's my life. And speaking of pain...I have a double groin strain! Yes, that's possible to injure both groins at the same time hahaha. I was doing Jump Squats for my Jump Manual plyometric workout, and did not warm up properly and ended up really damaging my groins. Luckily, the strain is not massive and I should be back this week or next. Right now i'm going through groin therapy on my own, and it sucks. Just sitting day after day wishing you could go train, it's a living nightmare to me. When that happened I was under a schedule were I do lower body weight lifting twice a week, and I feel this was putting a ton of stress on my muscles and it was just begging for a strain or pull. I can only be lucky with a strain, and it's a mild one at that. Now that my groin got hurt, I've switched up my schedule to doing plyometrics twice a week. I haven't got much time to see the benefits of this schedule, but I did complete one week (even on an injured groin, stupid right?) and I liked the results and feeling from that one week. I also bought the SKLZ Hop Trainer (google it) and have been using that for some plyo exercises. It works well, and feel it will yield some results. Sorry about not posting in awhile, just been really busy with school!

I will be posting more!

and oh yeah...I forgot...I GOT MY LICENSE!!!
having my licence will really help my training once I get a car and over these groin strains!

Sorry For No Posts!

Hey guys, what's up? Well a lot has happened since I last blogged. I started to really stray away from Jump Manual only completing half-workouts, but seeing no decreases. I actually worked out today (off-day exercises) and my jumping was great! I was actually satisfied with my effort and vertical!  Other than my vertical training, I ran a 10k around 49 mins on the dot and I did my first mountain bike race and it was sick!  I think i'm addicted to any kind of cycling, but I guess that's a good thing? So I plan on doing a road tour Oct. 14th and maybe a mountain bike race that next week, but we'll see how money and time plays out. As far as my personal life goes (I'm not sure why I like to share this information, I guess it's something physiological) I met this girl at my driving school and we've been talking, actually talking right now. So we'll see where that goes! I met her a little late though, so no date to homecoming :( but i'm a man, so i'll be fine. I try to not let stuff like that effect my training, I like to use the mantra "Gotta Stay Focused". Comes from my favorite song "Focused" by Wale (check it out). So that's basically a run down of whats been happening besides normal, boring school. I guess that's it...

don't know why it's sideways hahaha

Vertical Training?

Hey guys, what's up? Today we had a cross-country meet and I did really good. I dressed up in a headband and had a fake mustache and soul patch. I also made my hair into a fo-hawk. I'll try and post a picture of me if I get time. Anyways, I ran the whole thing without walking and set a PR! I ran around 21:40...which is really good for me! I had an awesome time, o today was just awesome. Yesterday I went my high school's football game and had some fun. There was this girl there and I had already liked her but my friend set up my  other friend with her before I could talk to her. I don't really care, it just bothers me. I'm still going to talk to her next football game and maybe, if things go right, ask her to homecoming! My vertical training has been BAD. I just don't have the energy to do it, but I always get my D.D.'s in and some core work. I occasionally get a full workout in, but most of the time I have to condense it. So that's just a little update of what's happening. Thanks for reading!

quick update on my vertical:
like I said, haven't been working out as much as I would like to. At least i'm getting my body fat percentages low and building endurance from cross-country. Plus, i'm having fun!

Tomorrow I will be doing the "Scioto Miles Fall Training Series" and it's a 10k. So wish me luck! Next week I have a mountain bike race at Alum Creek!

Love at Driving School? Not so Much...Maybe Something Better?

hey guys, what's up? Yesterday I had driving school, and (surprisingly) I had been looking forward to it to meet this girl I liked. Well what happened was I never talked to her the entire time and I got out of there as soon as I can, needless to say operation "get the girl" was a fail. I am a firm believer in that God has a plan for everyone, so I wasn't to down about it. A couple of days ago I hung out with my best friend Kit (one of the best squatters last year as a freshmen lifted close to 300 lbs.) and I was messing around with this when girl he had meet and I was just having fun. After talking to her for a while I was like "I have to go, but you should text me sometime even though you don't know me" and so I thought it was a joke and just left it as is. Then like right after my driving school I got a text from that girl and we started talking! Apparently she does cross-country and track, the only two sports I do! I haven't met her face to face but I plan on asking her to a football game next week (we both have cross-country and s*** this week). So I guess God does have a plan for everyone! It's kind of amazing how things work like that, that's why i take everything as a blessing. Anyways, as far as working out goes...today we ran 7 miles for XC! All the seniors went 7 miles and I was the only underclassman to go 7 miles, so I felt pretty proud. Everyone else ran about 5 or 6. I've been keeping up with my D.D.'s and core stability. I actually have been straying away from the Jump Manual due to time restraints but I always make sure I get in plyometrics! If you want to see the video of my ab workout click here it's super tough and I strongly suggest it if your looking for a quick killer ab workout! So that pretty much sums up what has been happening to me. I'll let you guys know what happens about the girl!

Personal Achievement: Normally when I run a 5k at my hardest I have to walk a little bit but last Saturday I ran the whole thing and felt AMAZING!

As some of you may know I do a lot of biking and running events outside of school. I plan on posting my racing schedule on here soon! stay tuned

also...wanted to start posting some songs, i'm going to call it "song of the week"

SCHOOL IS TAKING UP MY BLOGGING TIME!

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I've been pretty busy. School is going pretty good and I am satisfied with all the teachers except one! He teaches Chemistry and my first grade I turn in (a lab report) comes out as a 65%! I don't think I have ever gotten a grade that low before! His reason being that I "forgot a few things" even though I went off his guideline. Well, since I got that off my chest...today I had a cross-country meet but I didn't run my calf was bothering me yesterday and me and my parents agreed that I shouldn't run. It isn't like me, but I just thought it best. A couple of my friends, Evan and Wyatt, joined the cross-country team a week ago and they ran their first 5k today! Wyatt was a second slower than the race before I got hurt, so looks like I have a running partner! Evan, not so much (ran a 25:05)...but he tried and that's all that matters. Anyone who does running I give respect, no matter if you're good or not. As far as training goes for Jump Manual; I took the past two days off because of my calf, just kind of been on complete rest mode. I have continued my D.D.'s and core work daily though, so I've been busy. This Sunday I get to go back to driving school, hopefully that girl I like is there. I just need one moment to talk to her! Maybe i'll pray about it tonight. Speaking of praying, I have some old news to report but quite sad news to me. Chuck Harris "Mirror Man" from Ohio died August 22nd, 2012 if I'm not mistaken. He was a great person and a great cyclist. He improved the sport of road cycling ten fold! I will definitively miss him and many others will too. If you want to check out the full story click here.

quick update on my vertical:
As you might have expected, I haven't been testing my vertical! I plan on doing plyos tomorrow so I don't want to get to in depth in this post about my vertical. I'll let you guys know tomorrow!
