At age 15 I have devoted my training and time to jumping high and becoming a better high jumper. I have many dreams that I plan on accomplishing and with hard work they will all come true. I've been through a lot and I am sure there is more to come, but I know that i'll get through it. Project Mason isn't just a blog...it's my journey.

Calf Strain and School Starting :(

Hey guys. Well today started good for me, with my morning ritual before cross-country: eat natural peanut butter on wheat bread while watching sports center. All was good until I showed up to practice and remembered today was time trials. Basically a time trial is just a mock-up 5k to see where you are at, no one really takes it seriously. Without taking it seriously, I didn't warm-up properly and decided to run a 6:33 mile.  Well it all went well until about the second mile, that's when I started to feel it in my left leg. I decided to keep going and it got so bad I had to stop a few times. My time was so crappy at the end and my left calf was killing me! I got it iced down and bought a compression sleeve for it so I can run tomorrow. I didn't hurt it bad at all, but I might lay off the mileage tomorrow. ON TOP OF THAT...school is starting in a couple of days! Yeah, i'm excited to see my friends but I don't want to go back.

quick update on my vertical:
I was able to touch the rim with both hands on a standing vertical, so my vertical isn't going down yet! Hopefully, I see no decreases! This was on a 10' goal. I'll keep you guys updated.

Peace,
Mason

  1. That sucks bro! I feel you though, I'm nursing a back injury. Just make sure you rest and take it easy. Stretching is key, just keep working those muscles upstream and downstream of the injured area and it will clear up. Good luck man.
